How the score and trends are calculated

01

Find the midpoint

Each USCIS range becomes one number: the midpoint of its lower and upper month values. A single-number estimate stays unchanged.

02

Build the state value

Each state is the median of its matching field-office midpoints. The national baseline is the median of all available state values.

03

Read the color

Months mode shows the observed range from slowest to fastest. Delta mode usesnational - stateso positive means faster than the national median.

64 publications, 83 offices reported in every publication of the displayed chart. National history is the median of state medians in this fixed cohort; it can differ from the current map. Publication dates run from 2022-03-14 to 2026-09-17.

State values are medians of the midpoint reported by each matching field office. Estimates are snapshots, not guarantees, and can change as USCIS publishes new processing data.
